Gutten Haus was established in 1989. The word Gutten Haus means Good House. We are a small breeding kennel located in Sandwich, Illinois. One hour west of Chicago, Illinois. Our dogs are out of some of the best German import working bloodlines available today. Some of the bloodlines we use are old well know bloodlines from East German, West German and Czech. We also implement some of the newer bloodlines well known today.

We specialize in German Shepherds for dog sports, search and rescue (SAR), therapy, Police K-9, Bomb Detection, and the very best in family companions. We are totally dedicated to the German Shepherd Dog. We have very high standards, strong principals, ethics, and support our puppy buyers for the lifetime of their puppy.

We hand pick our dogs and puppies and they must have outstanding temperaments to be called a Gutten Haus dog. Temperament is the number one thing we look at in a German Shepherd. We have been breeding German Shepherds since 1989. Through the years we have produced some outstanding working dogs and companions. We have trained and titled our dogs, done Search and Rescue, German Shepherd Rescue, Therapy Work, AKC Competition and competed in the Conformation Ring. We have dogs in Florida, California, Texas, Indiana, Kansas, and all over Illinois. Gutten Haus is well known for outstanding temperaments, high train ability, and very good looking dogs. We guarantee our puppies and dog hips, elbows and health. We stand behind our puppies and dogs 100%. We also provide lifetime breeder support and expect you to call us anytime with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your Gutten Haus puppy or dog. We like to keep in touch with our puppies and sometimes make great new friends along the way. We have dogs competing in the sport of Schutzhund, working as Bomb Detection Dogs and Police K9′s, working as SAR dogs, working as Therapy Dogs, doing AKC competition, and best yet making superior family companions and protectors. Gutten Haus is the founder of the North Central Search and Rescue. They have Gutten Haus dogs working for them. Northern Illinois University has 3 Gutten Haus dogs working for them as Bomb Detection K9′s. We temperament test our puppies, heavily socialize our puppies, work with our puppies from the day they are born, we work very hard to make sure our puppies are placed with the right family.

Our Puppies are vet checked, wormed, shots, and bathed before they go to their new homes. They come with AKC papers, Pedigree, puppy health report card, and vaccination schedule. Our contract protects our puppies and we expect that for any reason in the future of a Gutten Haus puppy’s life you cannot keep him/her you return the puppy or dog to us or we approve a new home you have found. We do not want any of our puppies in a pound, shelter or rescue. We do not REFUND any monies for a dog or puppy returned unless per our contract. We will replace a puppy depending on the circumstance and per our contract. We produce the Best in Germans Shepherds and our dogs are hard to beat. We do not breed any dog that is not OFA. We believe that to be TOTALLY UNETHICAL we also do not breed any female under the age of 2 years old. We believe this to also be TOTALLY UNETHICAL and very harmful to the female, she is just a puppy until she has matured at 2 years and up. We do not have more than 2-3 litters per year and do not believe in mass production of dogs No matter what the breed. Our facilities for our dogs are always kept very clean; our dogs are very sound and healthy. We come highly recommended and vet recommended. Our dogs are part of our family and are not just kennels dogs.
